Kingdom of Granthis

The starting realm of the Wyvern's Talon, this Kingdom is ruled under the feudal system by King Loric from his capital city of Gloradin. A hierarchy of Dukes, Counts, Barons and minor nobles swear fealty to their liege lords but ultimate authority rests with the King.

Peasants living in the villages work for their local lord in the fields or the mines. Those living in towns and cities are "freemen", unfettered by obligations to a local lord. Towns and cities will generally have their own local government, but taxes would still be collected by the local lord as payment for this independence. They do not consider themselves city states and are clearly part of Granthis. In fact, the King and the Dukes generally have their main homes in the nation's major cities, such as Gloradin or Ventelas.
