1st Kilahar 1425

The party visits Enris at the Mercenaries' Guild and agree to pick up the following three jobs:

Inglewood Trolls:

“Now then lads – and lady! – this one’s been dragging on for far too long. I’ve even offered it to another mercenary company but nothing has been heard of them for days and we’re starting to worry they may have come to a sticky end, along with poor Kail Lorton who survived the original attack.

So, to recap, one of our caravan escorts recently came under ferocious attack from a small group of creatures that we’ve not encountered before, to my knowledge. Ten feet tall they were, apparently, and with rubbery, green skin and long ungainly arms and legs.

I have a rough map that Kail drew up, so perhaps you’ll be able to follow that.

This has become increasingly pressing as more attacks have occurred since we last spoke. The Duke’s officials are now offering a reward of 2,500gp”

Goblin Grab:

“So, as you know, Randurk Ashblade is looking for critters to fight against the gladiators in the Summer games. He really needs some weak fodder and the Rangers have found a camp of goblins living in some ruins not far from the village of North Meadow, around half a day’s travel to the north of here. Apparently led by a Hobgoblin chieftain, this group needs dealing with anyway before they pose a threat to the villagers. Capture at least eight of these – there’s a reward of 1,000gp up for grabs. As usual, anything else you loot in the process is of course yours to keep.”

Collector’s Request:

“Right then, we have a job here from a collector who wishes to remain anonymous. Client confidentiality is very important to us here, of course. He’s after a long sword that was buried with some great warrior or other, donkey’s years ago. He has a map to the location of the tomb, which will be supplied if you agree to the job. He’ll pay 2,000gp for the successful recovery of the weapon.

Apparently, he believes the tomb may be quite deep underground so bring your best climbing boots, haha!”

They also receive an invitation from the Duke to attend the Summer Games on the 7th Kilahar, which they accept. They purchase some small manacles to assist in capturing the Goblins. They then head off to the Inglewood, following the rough map which Kail Lorton had left behind, and stumble upon a group of three Trolls. They are able to get the drop on the creatures, and Korwyn unleashes a couple of Fireball spells upon them before they manage to close to melee range. The party dispatch the Trolls without too much trouble, although Daxia is badly hurt by a ferocious rending attack.

Valyn uses his healing magic to patch her up and the group continues to scout the area in an attempt to find any sign of the other mercenary party who have yet to return. Unfortunately, this proves fruitless and they eventually decide to make camp in the Inglewood, with a plan to continue north in the morning to the location of the tomb for the collector's job.

2nd Kilahar 1425

The party travel for most of the day, arriving at the tomb indicated by the collector's map by early evening. It is situated on a gentle slope in a forest clearing. They are able to lift the heavy stone slab, engraved with a script which they do not recognise, and peer down into the darkness below. By use of a light spell cast on a small pebble, they are able to illuminate the bottom of the pit and estimate the drop to be between 50' and 60'. Tying all their ropes together, they assemble 3 ropes of 100' length each; more than ample to climb down to the bottom.

Descending the ropes, they find themselves at the bottom of a large, circular chamber. Heavy iron doors are the only obvious exit. Kaldir searches the area immediately in front of the doors but fails to detect a pit trap, which is triggered by Idris when he steps up to unlock the doors. Although he is able to tumble to somewhat mitigate the damage from the fall, Idris is hurt by the spikes at the bottom of the pit. The others are able to use the slack on the ropes to assist Idris with climbing back out, and the lock is picked by Idris although it proves to be very challenging.
